BID Launches Anti Loitering Campaign

Lancaster BID are working with other agencies to reduce antisocial behaviour, street drinking and begging in Lancaster city centre.

We are aware or frequent issues with people loitering in shop doorways throughout the city centre.

Person(s) frequenting doorways can contribute to /cause the following:

  • Depositing of large amounts of litter including hazardous items
  • Graffiti
  • General disrepair of doorway areas
  • Endanger the safety of employees and/or customers by obstructing doorways
  • Causing employees to have to clean the doorway daily which in turn costs wages and cleaning equipment.

The Lancaster BID Warden can support businesses who are experiencing these issues.

For all businesses within the Lancaster BID Zone we can, with your permission, ask trespassers to leave your private property area on your behalf. To facilitate this, we require you to give us permission in writing to act on your behalf using this Anti Loitering Campaign Permission Form.

We will then provide you with an official sticker to display in a window on or near the doorway. This enables us to point out to any trespassers that you have given us permission to remove them.

If you would like us to support you with this, please complete the form and return to [email protected] or hand to one of the Lancaster BID team.
