Earlier this month Lancaster BID was delighted to welcome our new Lancaster BID Warden to the team. Hopefully many of you will already have seen him out and about in the city centre. Employed on our behalf by Castlegate Security, Simon Merrett brings a wealth of experience to the role.
Simon has spent his first weeks in post meeting some of the city centre businesses and patrolling the BID area to really get to know the patch. Working 30 hours per week, his shift pattern varies to ensure he can be of benefit to the daytime and evening economy.
His work forms a key element of our ‘Safe and Secure’ Lancaster campaign which aims to work with key partners and businesses to address a number of issues. His initial focus will be on various antisocial behaviour issues including shoplifting, homelessness, begging, street drinking and youth ASB.
Simon will be working closely with partners such as Police, Security at St Nics and Marketgate and Lancaster City Council. To maximise the benefits to businesses we are very keen to launch ‘Shopwatch’ across the city to get as many businesses communicating together as possible. This was one of the key outcomes identified at our BID Breakfast networking event earlier this year. The key to its success is us all working together sharing information (in the right way), and improving communication across radios etc. Contact the Lancaster BID team to find out how your business can sign up to be involved.
