Lancaster BID is reaching out to city centre businesses to encourage them to get more actively involved. All levy paying businesses are entitled to become members of Lancaster BID, which enables you to have a real say in what our priorities should be and how the levy income should be spent. Membership comes at no cost and ensures a vote at any open meetings and the Annual General Meeting (AGM), where company directors are elected.
Members can also choose to become more actively involved in Lancaster BID through putting themselves forward to join one of our four Sub Groups. These include:
Events & Marketing Sub Group. The aim of this Sub Group is to organise high profile public events as well as business to business events, marketing and promotional activities. This Sub Group is also responsible for Winter In The City and Christmas activities.
Finance & Strategy Sub Group. This group is responsible for scrutinising the monthly profit and loss account and analysing the monthly forecast. This group also supports the Management Board in terms of their strategic agenda and annual reviews of budgets and performance.
Healthy High Streets Sub Group. The aim of this Sub Group is to obtain and share statistics and information about business and store performances, for example sales percentage changes. This is also a great platform to update businesses on general initiatives of Lancaster BID, including events and obtaining business feedback. This Sub Group is best suited for multiple retailers due to confidential information shared e.g. sales, footfall, average transaction.
Improvements Sub Group. This Sub Group is responsible for physical improvements to the city centre, including managing contracts such as Christmas Lights, Cleansing and BID Ambassador. This group looks at proactive solutions to business problems, including gum and graffiti removal and Business Improvement Grants as well as physical improvements to the city centre.
Lancaster After Dark Sub Group. The Lancaster After Dark Sub Group is responsible for supporting the businesses that operate once the shops shut, including bars, clubs and pubs, as well as theatres, cinema and other activities open in the evening as well as the restaurant and takeaway sectors.
