Love Lancaster Business Awards

Lancaster BID is delighted to confirm the finalists for the 2023 Love Lancaster Business Awards. Selected from over 1,500 nominations, the finalists certainly do respresent the very best that Lancaster city centre has to offer. The judging panel will have no easy job selecting the ultimate winners!

The Love Lancaster Business Awards, which celebrate success across the Lancaster BID Zone in Lancaster city centre are brought to you by Lancaster BID in partnership with Holdens Law.

Love Lancaster Business Awards Categories

Visitor Attraction/Event of the Year – sponsored by The Travellers Choice

Finalists are: Lancaster Music Festival, Lancaster Walks Talks and Tours and The Dukes

This award recognises the best attraction for visitors to our Heritage City. Whether it’s a permanent tourist attraction or a one-off event, we’re looking for high quality attractions which draw people into our wonderful city. Nominate your favourite venue or event which offers the best experience to visitors to the city centre.


Pub/Bar of the Year – sponsored by Student Housing Lancaster

Finalists are: Runner Duck, The Sun and Ye Olde John O’Gaunt

This award is for licensed premises which stand out from the crowd. Nominations encouraged for any venues which make your quick drink or big night out extra special.


Restaurant of the Year – sponsored by Marketgate Shopping Centre

Finalists are: Merchants 1688, Now or Never and The Quarterhouse

Lancaster has a wealth of restaurants serving a wide range of cuisine. Nominate your favourite and tell us what about it has really impressed you and makes it deserve the award.


Café/Coffee Shop of the Year – sponsored by Two Stories

Finalists are: Brew, Journey Social and The Old Bell

Lancaster has plenty of options whether you are looking for a coffee and cake or a light lunch. Tell us which one is your favourite haunt and what makes it special enough to win our award.


 

Takeaway of the Year – sponsored by Lancaster & Morecambe Eats

Finalists are: Ado’s, Aquila Pizza and Perilicious

Whether you want to grab a bite to eat on the go or order in a feast, you’ll be spoilt for choice for a takeaway in Lancaster. Nominate your favourite and tell us what makes it stand out from the rest – don’t forget it needs to be in the city centre!


Independent Retailer of the Year – sponsored by Castlegate Security

Finalists are: Gregory Williams Butchers, Lancaster Bed Company and Meet The Makers

This award is for independent retailers located within Lancaster city centre. Whether it sells something unique, or offers exceptional levels of care for customers, tell us about your favourite independent retailer in the city centre and why they deserve to win the award.


Multiple Retailer of the Year – sponsored by St Nics Arcades

Finalists are: Sainsbury’s, The Entertainer and Waterstones

Lancaster has a wide range of national multiple retailers offering a variety of produce including clothing, household items, books, stationery, pharmacy products, groceries and so much more. Nominate your favourite and tell us what makes them so deserving of our award.


Hair & Beauty Salon of the Year – sponsored by Printing.com

Finalists are: Emslies, House of Serenity and Jo and Cass

Nominate your favourite salon and let us know why they deserve to win the award. With so many potential nominees throughout the city centre including hair, nails, skincare, and tattoo parlours, we want to know who you think is the best.


Professional Services Award – sponsored by Eventus Recruitment Group

Finalists are: Joseph A Jones Solicitors, Mighty House and Westmorland Homecare

This award recognises the predominantly office-based businesses delivering professional services throughout the city. Nominations might include the financial or legal sectors, architects, design agencies, insurance brokers and so much more. Tell us who you think deserves to win.


Customer Service Team of the Year – sponsored by Q2Q

Finalists are: Boots, Dalton Square Pharmacy and Gregory Williams Butchers

The winner of this award will be the business which demonstrates exceptional levels of customer service. The category is open to all business types including retail, hospitality and professional services.


Manager of the Year – sponsored by Guy Penn

Finalists are: Aimee Rostern Fraser (The Sugarhouse), Glenn White (Services Manager, Marketgate Shopping Centre) and Ruth Laverty (Dalton Square Pharmacy)

This award recognises the Manager who provides quality leadership to their team, ensures their business delivers high levels of customer satisfaction and is a positive asset to the city centre. Although nominations from the public are welcome, we are particularly keen to hear from staff who work with the nominees.


Employee of the Year – sponsored by LOCALiQ

Finalists are: Harley Parker (The White Cross), Lucy Sweetman (The Penny Bank) and Naomi Parsons (The Judges’ Lodgings)

This award recognises any individual employee working within Lancaster city centre. Nominations are welcome from colleagues highlighting exceptional contributions to a team or from customers highlighting how the individual goes above and beyond to meet your needs and make you feel welcome.


Young Person of the Year – sponsored by Lancaster & Morecambe College

Finalists are: Ciara Moriarty (The Performance Studios), Ki Crawley (The Sun) and William McLachlan (Tipple)

This award is specifically for people aged 16 to 25 working in any city centre business who excel in their role and go above and beyond to create a positive impression to their customers. Nominations are welcome from the public or colleagues.


Ambassador of the Year – sponsored by Holdens Law

Finalists are: Greg Lambert (Beyond Radio), Lucy Reynolds (Lancaster Music Festival) and Tim Tomlinson (Publican and chair of Pubwatch)

This award recognises the individual from a city centre business or visitor attraction who really excels and makes the biggest positive impact in Lancaster city centre. They should be someone who has really gone above and beyond to fly the flag for the city and made an outstanding contribution to Lancaster. Although nominations can be submitted for this category, the judges reserve the right to consider nominees from across all categories to receive this ultimate recognition.


Lancaster Superhero Award – sponsored by HPA

Finalists are: Karen Dickinson (Samba Espirito), Louise Williams (Food for Thought / The Hygiene Bank) and Linda Warrington (Defying Dementia)

This is the only community award which seeks to recognise the individual who has voluntarily given up their time to make a significant positive contribution to Lancaster city centre. This could be someone at a school, local community group or charity who has given up their time to help others. Tell us what they have done for other people which really makes them stand out from the crowd.
