Renes Running for St John’s

27th May 2020

As the country has been in lockdown many people have sought innovative ways to make use of their time from singing, dancing, video catch-ups, getting fit or just simply taking a well-earned rest, not Tiffany Moore, co-owner of Renes Fashion in Lancaster, she set herself a mammoth task and took the opportunity to raise the much needed funds for St John’s Hospice. Starting on Sunday 26th April , Tiffany pledged to run for 2.62 miles every day for 26 days ending on Thursday 21st May.

The 2/6 Challenge was created as the cancellation of the London Marathon which is one of the biggest one-day annual fundraising events in the world, this left a huge hole in St John’s charity income, so on Sunday 26 April, what should have been the date of the London Marathon, St John’s asked people to dream up an activity based around the numbers 2.6 or 26, (the length of a marathon is 26.2 miles, hence the name), and simply fundraise £26 to St John’s Hospice.

Tiffany says “St John’s hospice is important to me with their focus on the quality of living and offering Hospice at Home care. I know first-hand that my mum Pamela, thanks to St John’s Hospice, was able to have some quality time in her life and stay in the comfort of her own home right to the very end, which meant so much to her and everyone concerned. We will be forever grateful for this”.

Tiffany added “I have always enjoyed the challenge of running, it doesn’t matter whether you come first, last or in the middle of the pack, it’s about the feeling and satisfaction in finishing and raising money for a fantastic cause and a memory of a wonderful mum. With no preparation, I was concerned that I was confusing ambition with ability but with the encouragement of my friends, my partner Pete and our dogs Toto and Button, I have overcome sprains, sore knees and tiredness to be on track to complete and raise much needed funds for the Hospice.”

The total currently stands in excess of £1,000 and a Tiffany thanks everyone who has encouraged and kindly donated so far. It means a lot.

Through Renes Fashion Tiffany and her Partner Amanda have been keen to show their support for the NHS and key workers through simple gestures such as the weekly updates of Renes shop-windows which clearly shows NHS written inside a big love heart, the weekly blue window lighting displays and adorning Renes windows with fabulous Rainbow drawings created by local children. Each Rainbow drawing displayed Renes are donating £10 to St. John’s Hospice.

Amanda said, “It has been a difficult time for people and it is important to try where we can, even the simple things like our Facebook “Be like…” stick figure picture campaign, it’s a small gesture to put a smile on our customers faces.”

“When Tiffany hasn’t been working or running she has been helping Pete and her brother Mark with deliveries of the PPE which they have produced and dispatched for FREE to thousands of frontline workers”.

Renes Fashion have missed their cherished customers and look forward to seeing them in-store as soon as they possibly can at 23/25 Common Garden Street, Lancaster, LA1 1XD. Tel. 01524 32971, When they re-open Renes will be adhering to all responsible Social Distancing Guidelines.

Lockdown has been a busy time for Renes Fashion but they are ready for the challenges ahead and with local support hope to remain very firmly on “Lancaster’s High Street”.
