As part of Light Up Lancaster 2023, FoodFutures will be hosting a street food market in and around Lancaster Market Square. FoodFutures currently organises the four seasonal markets that take place on a Friday in March, June, September and December. The aim of Lancaster Seasonal Markets is to celebrate local produce and crafts – and create a festival atmosphere in the market square with music and performances.
The Light Up Lancaster ‘Street Food Market’ aims to build on this tradition with a selection of local street food traders, local musicians and dining space for people to sit down and enjoy the food and drink on offer. The food market will run from 5-9pm on the 2-4th November 2023 and aims to create a lively atmosphere Market Square. FoodFutures are keen to offer local businesses the opportunity to have a stall at the food market or to be promoted as part of the food and drink offer available as part of Light Up Lancaster.
In line with FoodFutures vision of a local food system that is healthy, resilient and fair, priority for market stalls will be given to traders or businesses that:
– are locally-based and independent,
– promote and sell local, seasonal and sustainably produced food
– offer a range of vegetarian and vegan options alongside any meat dishes
– are actively looking at ways to reduce food and packaging waste.
Please email Lancaster BID in the first instance to express an interest and we will pass your details to the Coordinator at FoodFutures. Traders and businesses must provide their own equipment for a street food stall (for instance gazebo, weights, tables and heating equipment). Limited electrical supplies are available for a small fee.
